Turn your last dinner in the old house and your first dinner in the new house into a special event. Sure you may have everything packed up, but you can order in or get dinner to go from your favorite restaurants. Whatever you can do to make things special will help turn it into a fun experience.
Pump up the volume
Music gets everyone’s hearts pumping and adrenaline flowing. Create a high-energy playlist of your family’s favorite music to help while away the time. This will help take your mind off the tedium of the move itself and get you more into working to reach your goal.
Turn it into a game
When it comes to moving with kids, the easiest way to get them on board is to turn the move into a game. Have them sort all of the stuff in their rooms into three piles: pack, donate, and trash. Then turn it into a race: Who can sort their things the fastest? Who can find the most items to donate? Think in those terms and you will get the kids involved. Kids also love reward (and a little bribery always helps). Reward them with a small bit of money or even candy for each box that they pack or each item that they load on the moving truck.
